Joe is a psychic medium who has been certified and tested by science-based protocols to show he can get accurate information, beyond the odds of chance under strict controls. In this episode, he talks about why psychic mediums never win the lottery, an amazing and highly evidential time he showed he really was communicating with Liz’s dad, what he thought would happen with Covid (the conversation takes place in the spring of 2020), and more fascinating, worldview changing stuff.
Joe is certified by the Forever Family Foundation and participates in scientific research and studies conducted by major universities. (details to release once the studies are completed)

Complete Summary
Evidential mediumship and why mediums don’t win the lottery.
This episode continues Liz and Joe’s conversation. They open the episode discussing a small group reading Joe was giving at a Forever Family Foundation grief retreat when Joe gave Liz a reading. Yes he knew her, but he never knew the name of her grandmother and other highly accurate non-googleable information he got about Liz’s uncle.
How to prevent a medium from cold-reading you.
Joe talks about how Liz is when she is a sitter during a medium reading. She does not react AT ALL and keeps a poker face. Liz explains she never says more than "yes," "no," "please tell me more," or, "I'm not sure,” and is careful to keep emotion out of her face. Liz also explains a common cold reading tactic mediums use where they will say something like, "Oh, your mother's not on the other side, or your mother hasn't passed away? Has she?" Then if you say, “Oh, no, she hasn't," the medium will say, "Oh, I thought so." And if you say, "Oh, she has," then they will say "Oh, I thought so.” The best response to this is to say, “ I don't understand what you're asking me. Are you asking me if she's dead? Or she is alive?” Liz explains she has never seen Joe do this.
They both agree Joe has tried to figure it out when he gives medium readings, for example if he is feeling someone’s mom is alive he will say something along the lines of "Is your mother here? In the physical world?”. But he doesn’t fish for answers. But he will also add “give me a second.” He doesn’t want the sitter to answer as he figures out what he is getting.
Signs from The Other Side that even impressed a skeptic
Liz launches into a story about an amazing and highly evidential experience she and Joe had involving getting a really strong sign from her dad. Joe agrees this was one of the most evidential and remarkable experiences he has had as well. When the two of them did a meditation exercise together to talk to Liz’s dad, they both felt he was there, and he gave them some really string evidence he was. Then the next day, he proved himself even further. Liz’s dad really wanted to let his skeptical daughter he was there and he sent her a sign that she couldn’t deny (well, at least had to strongly consider).
Why don’t psychic mediums win the lottery?
Liz asks Joe a question that so many people want to know: why hasn’t he won the lottery and made millions on the stock market?
Joe explains that he thinks he actually could do well on the stock market if he really put in the time to learn more about it. With psychic information you still need to have a frame of reference. That is what it is like for him when he gets medical information about anyone he is reading. He used to work for an eye doctor, so he will get accurate information about any eye issues, but anything cardiovascular, he won’t really understand what he is getting.
He did try to use his psychic abilities in Vegas and Atlantic City, but had no luck. He thinks because things like gambling is trivial, so his abilities just won’t work that way. He hasn’t really tried to get the lotto numbers yet. He certainly wouldn’t mind if his abilities did work that way.
Liz offers to pay for lotto tickets for him to try and then they can split the winnings. Joe though thinks that psychic abilities are really strongest when they have real meaning. People’s abilities overall (even those who normally don’t have abilities) notice psychic abilities spike when they're in crisis or trauma, or when there' a great need for a message. Liz pushes though and wants to try, because maybe it would work if they agreed to donate half to a good cause.
Joe explains he thinks it would be hard too because he would care too much. Once he is too attached to the outcome, his abilities don’t work as well. His best readings are for people he doesn’t know at all. When he reads for people he cares about because like all of us, his own mind intrudes. He worries about them and that maybe something bad will happen to them.
And he can’t read for himself because “I immediately I'm like ‘Oh my god I'm gonna die!!’ You know what I mean? Like you, like always go to like the wrong thing because your own mind and ego is in the way.” I think we can all relate to that even as non-mediums.
Liz also talks about situations she has read about where a medium will get the numbers but won’t know which lottery or when. Or will get all numbers but one wrong. Joe nows someone that happened to.
Joe thinks the trivialness of the lotto gets in the way. Also mediums don’t choose the information they get. Mediums can’t choose who they “bring in” during a reading. And can’t always get the information the person wants. For example in a psychic reading, a mom might want to know if her (living) son’s relationship will work out, but he might only get information on his career.
Mediums don't get information that is too personal.
If for example, someone’s mom wants to know about their relationship, he might get something major like this person is their soulmate, or something terrible like this person is being abused. But sometimes he will be “told no.” He won’t get the information because it is personal. It is like he is being blocked. Like they will block his psychic ability.
There obviously would be things we wouldn't want our parents to get details about, so he thinks this is when his abilities feel “blocked.”
Joe also thinks it can be weird because is someone’s grandma who he will be talking to next week watching him. That would be uncomfortable. There must be a visual component to how deceased “see” us, since vision is so frequently reported during NDE’s (Near Death Experiences.)
Psychics reading skeptics.
Liz reminds Joe of when they first met. It was during a Forever Family Foundation Afterlife and Mediumship Convention. Liz was volunteering, but was also a guest. There was a dinner where Joe was doing a group reading for guests.
He was reading another woman at the table Liz was sitting at, and bringing through her son who had passed away, and kept getting information that he had gone to a private school in New York. The woman said no. Liz actually had gone to private schools in New York, but she never claimed it. Later when Joe learned this about Liz, after they had become friends, he realized this was for her. Liz explains she wouldn’t claim a reading and say it was for her off one one piece of evidence. A medium would need to get more.
Joe told her that she was so skeptical that weekend when they first met that at first he wondered if she was a spy for a skeptical group trying to expose the mediums or a journalist writing an expose. Once he got to know her, even just talking that weekend, he realized she was just trying to make sure her future medium readings were evidential. But she was definitely one of the most skeptical people he ever met.
Liz notices though as she has become friends with mediums, that they get lots of highly evidential information that she never told them. Joe tells Liz that when someone he is reading is really guarded and skeptical he can get nervous and worry that he really has to get this right. There is a way someone can not give away information but not be so guarded that they block the reading. But sometimes with friends like Liz, he is really comfortable now, so once he is comfortable with a person, he can get some really insane information.
Liz wonders though that if he is reading his friends as a medium, how do both of them know they haven’t told him the information he is getting and neither remember. She doesn’t doubt Joe’s honesty, but wonders if he could be storing this information unconsciously.
Joe can’t deny it’s possible, but the information really random.
Joe: “It's possible. It definitely is possible. But like if I'm bringing up that your grandmother had like a sister named Dot in 1972 when she died and like chances are you probably haven't told me that.”
Liz agrees she definitely never told Joe the sign information he got frothier dad. Plus another medium she is good friends with once gave her information Liz said was wrong. Liz decided to double check with her mom and what the medium got was actually right. Not only did that show that Liz had never told this medium that information, but that also showed this medium was not reading Liz’s mind.
Psychics on Covid
This talk takes place around April-May 2020, so the two discuss Covid. Liz wants to try to do Out of Body exercises and see if they work so the two can hang out at a bar.
Joe gives his insights into how he thinks Covid is going to go. When will quarantine end? When can we hug our family? He actually ends up being fairly accurate. (Note both Liz and Joe want you to listen to doctors over psychics about covid and please get vaccinated)
